In this video I discuss how having a seat with adjustable height affects your stability and center of balance/gravity. The affects are multiplied exponentially the higher you go, of course the higher your seat plane is from the deck, the more you raise the center of gravity for the Kayak as well as yourself. The opposite is then also true, the lower your seat plane is to the deck, the lower center of balance you have for your kayak and you. If you ever feel “tippy”, you can toss one leg over each side of the kayak and that will lower your weight and center off gravity as well. In this video, I show you how I secure my YakAttack BlackPak to my kayak. In this particular video I show this on my CK1 Venture from Crescent Kayaks. Any kayak with bungees and enough room in the tankwell can be used to install the BlackPak in this manner. I have used milk crates in the past, and there is a product form YakAttack that can help securing those as easily as I do here, check out the Omni Hooks that you can attach to your bungees and then hook onto a milk crate to help in ease of securing your tackle storage. In this video I show you how to properly sit on a Sit On Top kayak for paddling. I show you proper back angle, leg bend, feet positioning and more on two kayaks. One kayak without a raised chair style seat , the Splashback, and one kayak with a raised chair style seat, the CK1 Venture, both from Crescent Kayaks. Being seated gives us a desire for comfort and todays modern kayaks can provide that easily, but we must also be sure to maintain proper posture and paddling form when seated. By doing this, we find ourselves less fatigued after paddling, less pain or aches associated with paddling, and can enjoy being on the water much longer. You can always relax and kick back that seat when not paddling, but be sure to sit up proper when paddling. In this video, I talk about Tethers, Leashes, and the types of Carabiners that should be used when kayaking and kayak angling. I go over some basic rules for tether and leash materials and lengths, and I go into detail about the safety aspect of using Tethers, Leashes, and why to use certain types of Carabiners. You can use hook and loop fastener (Velcro) in lieu of carabiners, just make sure the Velcro is tight and does not have a loop formed which could allow an object to snag.
